These
are some very quick scribbly sketches done in South Luangwa National
Park in Zambia. Luckily Mr lion had just eaten half an impala so he
was not too interested in these strange people peering at him and
recording him in to their sketch books. I thought that an
elephant would be a simple creature to draw, but all of my first
attempts looked just like Dumbo. I feel that with this second sketch
I was begining to get his proportions right. This very large chap was
nibbling trees outside my bedroom door at five o clock one morning, so
I had my very own model. Was a bit scary.
