Summer.................Gone!

Now you see it now you dont, It has has been a horrid summer, rain, rain and more rain and to add insult to injury it is also going colder.   Next thing it will be Christmas, in fact the shops are already putting out the odd Christmas item.
I am going to start a new page with some photographs from some of my Africa holidays.  Watch this space.... S

Summer ! Is it here??

Suddenly it is lovely and warm, blue sky, sunshine, dont get too excited cos it could all vanish as quickly as it has apeared.
Have just come back from Liverpool with my friend Jone.  We went to the Albert Dock to Tate Liverpool to see the Gustav Klimt exhibition.  We really wished we hadnt bothered , I was expecting lots of colour and movement, but no it was very dull and I found it rather boring... each to their own.  But Liverpool is blooming as the City of Culture and it really is brilliant.  Having been disapointed with the Klimt , we went over to the Wirral to Gordale to see the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, it is really really good , some beautiful pieces of art work . You can find their website www.newa.co.uk  Well worth a browse.

EXHIBITION TIME

I have got an exhibition in the Rotunda library in Llandudno, It is part of the Library in Mostyn Street.  So if you happen to be in Sunny Llandudno do go and have a look., Not a big gallery but I have 19 pictures in it also not well sign posted but it is there up the stairs or in the lift.

My new Sylvia's Place in the garden is being put to good use and at the moment paintings are happening on a reasonably regular basis.

Mountain Zoo

Yesterday I spent in the Mountain zoo in Colwyn Bay.  Nice little zoo and easy to get around.   As ususal this summer the weather could have been a lot better, so I spent a lot of time as usual in with the chimps..... no rude comments please!

House/ shed/ studio Christened.!!!

Last night in  between lashings of rain "My Place" was well and truly christened with a couple of bottles of really nice champagne.   Then lots of us huddled inside to keep dry and warm.   Flaming June,  Ha Ha.

Early early morning.

Up ( as usual) with the lark, not that we see too many of those around here thease days.  My little house at the top of the garden is now furnished with my easels, my table , and all of my painting gear.  Yesterday I started the first picture in there, it might be a success , it will probably be a mess.  I shall keep you informed.

Namibia paintings hopefully on the page.

It seems to have taken forever, things just kept on going wrong and deleting themselves (probably me).  Any how I have now posted a page of pictures on my Namibia page, I am sure there will be more.
Life almost back to normal its amazing how quickly routine takes over.   My "shed" or as I prefer to call it Sylvias Place is now almost finished in the garden, a blue and white wooden (small) building which hopefully will be a place of inspiration and creativity.  I now have the fun of hauling tables/ chairs/ easels and other parafanalia up a long steep garden , and then it will be christened with something alcholic and let the painting begin...........

Not asleep , just gone painting.

So very long since I put a finger to a key board.  I have been to Namibia on an amazing holiday, in the wilds of Etosha, viewing elephants, zebra, cheeta leopard, giraffe and so many more wonderful animals.  I have so much to tell and I have to go shopping, but I shall be back.  I have new pictures  to down load so please come back tomorrow.

Mounting excitement.

Only a few weeks to go and I  am off back to Africa, this time to Namibia, to deserts  and wild coast line.  I have been reading the guide books in anticipation  The suitcase is out and art stuff being collected.  The luggage allowance is once more minimal so clothing will not be a priority.  I need sketch books , watercolour paper, inks, paints, pencils brushes etc etc.
I should have some more pictures to show you when I get home.
To come back to the real world and the mundane, it is still cold and inclement weather .... so sad ,  hopefully it will soon begin to get warmer.
Lamb update... Growing almost by the minute.  So many of them now, they hold lamb  races and jumping competitions , just like small children really.

Oh to be in England / Wales now that Aprils there!!!!!!

"Oh to be in England / Wales, now that Aprils there!!"  will get very cold and wet, so all of my friends who are in warmer climes be very happy.  Tis horrid,  to go out in the garden would be wonderful .  I have flung a few seeds into pots in my green house and then I ran back indoors to a nice warm kitchen and a hot drink.   I walk the dog in woolly socks, boots, mitts and pull down hat. Squeak (Jack Russell dog) and I rush around our walk at a very rapid rate of knots just so that we can get back indoors again.
The lambs in plastic macs are growing apace and the macs look like handme downs from older siblings, thay are getting very raggedy and sorry looking, though the lambs do not seem to care and are prancing around and are as happy as only lambs can be.
If you look at my pictures now you will see I have made them larger , so hopefully you will not need a magnifying glass to see them.

New Showroom

Hectic hectic hectic.  As possibly some of you know we ( my better half & me) own a Marble & Granite business.     ( see web site) The last few days have been spent  in the south of England opening a new showroom.
Kitchen worktops etc, what I hadnt realsed was the pysical hard work that was needed to get the place up and running, sweeping , scrubbing , polishing and generally tearing out of hair to meet a deadline.  Phew.  We did open ,  and on time, but then the torrential rain and blustery winds conspired to keep folk away.  Some good contacts were made and the showroom  isup and running, this is why I have been a little bit quiet recently.
Sunshine at the moment and I am watching the birds on the hanging nut holder just outside my window. Longtailed tits, blue tits lots of finches and even a woodpecker.  Poor birds are wondering what has happened to spring.

Happy Easter

Have a happy Easter everyone, I just hope that where ever you are the weather is lovely, cos just do not ask..... here is just really horrible.  Cold cold cold.

Poor old Easter bunnie I think he will be digging through snow drifts to leave any eggs.

Still have fun.

What a pickle

It just all goes hay wire, just as you think it has come right, B E Marble & Granite links with Art Safari , my Zambia charity becomes Long bay Hotel............!!!!!!! Shucks  More work, see links page for chaos.

Getting there!!!

I do wonder if this site downloads properly to everyone who looks at it, all seems OK to me , but a friend in Antigua found that some of the script did not behave the way that I had intended it to.  I do hope that I have now corrected this, but I would be more than grateful  if you see glaring errors ( or even little errors ) you will be kind enough to click on to the contact me oage and let me know the problem, then I can try to sort it out, hopefully!!, This is a real learning curve for me.
I am adding some more links to my site , if you would like to be added and you would liketo add me to your site please lets get together, I am adding in people and places that I like and have had contact with so all personal recomendations .  By the way the lambs in coats are growing apace, and the coats are looking a bit raggedy.

Lambs in coats

I have been watching  a small flock of sheep across the road from my home, there are about twelve lambs , all now at the "Look at me " stage.  Some of them are wearing little plastic coats!!!!! I supose as we have gale and very wet weather forcast for the next few hours it is some protection for them, they really look cute.

Spelling mistakes....For the eagle eyed.

I expect the more observant amongst you realised that there were a couple of spelling mistakes in my original script!   Actually it was a test , just to see how long it would be before some kind soul pointed it out to me.
Most of you are just too nice and either didnt see them or decided not to tell.  Youngest son  just couldnt resist, thank you Dan.   Just keep an eye on your mums pages, I do apreciate it and any one else who gets there first.
Well the promised storm has either passed us by or its sitting in the wings waiting to pounce in the middle of the night. Though I do think that the weather people just give the worst scenario on purpose.ever since the 1987 gales  in the south.

People are so nice.

I just want to thank all the folk who have added their thoughts about my site, all of them kind comments, and constructive advice.   I shall take heed.
Sunday morning and the birds are singing, so far the gales, and snow have stayed away.
My day is planned with a trip to Chester and lunch with friends, do hope they have oysters on the menu today.

No oysters

No oysters on the menu, what a disapointment, but the company was excellent.
